HOW TO CHANGE DRIVE LETTER AND PATH ON YOUR COMPUTER

I've always wanted to learn how to change drive letter and the path on my computer for a long time, I knew nothing is impossible in the world of computers,but I didn't know how I would do it. I was browsing on the internet one day and I stumbled upon a post titled 'how you can change the drive letter and path' after trying it and it worked, I decided to share the tip with you. It's been a while since I last posted, it's because I've been occupied with offline duties. Now let me quickly explain the stuff in a few simple steps...

Steps to add/change the drive letter

Start up your computer

Go to control panel

Go to computer management

Select Disk management under storage

Your computer will show all the hard drive partitions and external hard drives. If it encounters problems assigning a letter, you can manually give one by right clicking on the partition and then selecting "Drive letter and path"
The computer will give options to Add, Change or Remove a drive letter. That's all!
If after trying it and you're still encountering problems on changing the drive letters and path, just ask your questions as comment.

HOW TO RENAME WINDOWS FOLDER TO SPACE (EMPTY CHARACTER)

Renaming windows folder to space, empty or funny character is really interesting if you are the type of person who loves to play with windows folder. When you do this, the folder invisible without hiding it.

You can easily rename the folder to " " (space). You can't rename a folder to space right away. You have to RIGHT CLICK ON THE FOLDER and SELECT "RENAME" and get rid of the previous name and then you have to HOLD THE "ALT" on your keyboard and TYPE 255 in the number pad. i.e. You type (ALT + 255). Finally, press enter and your folder name will be changed to space.

It is not over yet... Still, folder icon shows up with the folder attached to a wired name (space).

Now, we want TO GET THE FOLDER ICON AWAY. That's simple, just RIGHT CLICK ON THE FOLDER, GO TO "PROPERTIES", SELECT CUSTOMIZE, CLICK ON "CHANGE ICON". The makers of windows OS seemed to have thought about this. You'll see three blank icons, I have no idea why these blank icons are there, SELECT ONE OF THEM and CLICK ON OK and then APPLY it. Done. Now, your folder should be invisible.

Wait a minute... Still, that blank line looks bad with other folders... Just double click on the Name and sort the folder list. Yeah, you're through! You've successfully renamed your folder to space and hidden it at the same time.

HOW TO INCREASE COMPUTER SPEED

This time, I'll be sharing a trick on how to increase your computer speed up to 60%. I'm sure you don't believe this. Well, there are times your computer proves to be so slow that it takes a long time to respond to almost anything or task you want to perform on it. Don't worry, with this trick I'll be sharing with you, you can use a small part of your computer's Hard disk as Virtual RAM, i.e. Random Access Memory. You'll be so surprised with the speed of your computer. Sit back and relax while I teach you the trick on how to increase your computer speed up to 60%.

Follow these simple steps.

1. Start up your computer
2. Open "My computer"
3. Go to "properties"
4. Click on the "Advance" tab
5. Under "Performance" section, click on the "Settings" button
6. Now, note to the "Advance" tab.
7. Under "Victual memory" section, click on the "Change" button
8. Now select Drive "C"
9. Select the "Custom size" option
10. Set the Initial size (MB) to whatever you want 5000 for 5MB, 2000 for 2MB, and so on. But at least, set it to 2000
11. If you Set Maximum Size to 5000 for
5MB it means 5MB of local disk will be used as virtual memory. But it's better to keep it as high as you can before.
12. Click on the "Set" button.
13. Perform this with all other driver also.
14. Click on "OK" button
15. Again Click on "OK"
16. Click "OK" again.
17. Restart your computer.

That's all! You'll see the effect almost immediately after you restart the computer. Congratulations! You have increased your computer speed! Explore your computer and see the wonder!

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE THE MENU AND FORMATTING BAR IN MICROSOFT OFFICE APPLICATIONS

I'm sure you visited this blog hoping to get a tip, learn a trick or get a vital info. This time around, I'm going to give you a tip on how to customize the menu and standard tool bars in microsoft office applications what I mean is that, I'm going to show you how you can change the menu in your microsoft office applications like microsoft word, ms. Excel, power point and so on... take for example, on my own computer, I changed the menus, e.g. I changed the format menu to 4mat, Edit to 3d!t, File to philez and so on. In fact, you can even customize the icons, e.g. The Print icon, file icon and other icons on the tool bar to any picture you like. Ok, enough of my explanations, just follow the steps outlined below, showing you how you can customize the menu bar and standard tool bar
in office applications on your computer.

1. Right click on any part of the formatting bar, i.e. The part with the "edit, format, file, etc."

2. You'll see a drop down menu, from the drop down list, move down and click on customize. (A pop up box will be displayed with the heading "customize")

3.Leave the pop menu alone and move to the menus on the formatting bar which you wish to edit. Now, right click any of the menus to edit. E.g. File, edit, view, insert etc. (A drop down menu will be displayed)

4. In the position where you have name, erase and change the menu to whatever you like, once you are done, click out and the name remains changed.

Meanwhile, an ampersand i.e. (&) symbol is also displayed, you can erase and put it behind any letter you want to use to assess that menu as a shortcut. Once you are done, click on close.

If you like, you can customize commands and keyboard shortcut combinations from the customise pop up displayed. Click on close once you're through and you're done! In fact, with this option, you can change anything on the formatting bar and even the images there too!

Please note that this was tested on office 2003, may not work on trial versions of office packages.

HOW TO CHANGE AM AND PM TIME READING ON YOUR COMPUTER TO YOUR NAME OR ANYTHING YOU LIKE

Hello friends, it's been a while since I last shared my tips and tricks with you, this is due to time constraints, I promise to make up for that. Anyway, that's by the way, I'm here once again to share a very simple and fantastic trick which I'm sure you've never known before. I want to show you how to change the AM and PM time reading to anything you want on your computer. Before posting this trick, I've tested it on my computer and sure, it will work on yours too. I replaced the AM and PM readings with ayz and AYZ respectively. In order not to waste much of your precious time, I'll go straight to the point, so relax and learn how to change the AM and PM time readings of your computer to whatever you like!

Step-1:- Navigate to -> Start -> Control Pannel -> Regional and Language Option -> Click on Customize -> Go to TIME Tab -> Change AM symbol and PM symbol from AM and PM to ur name -> Apply -> Ok ...

In case you use windows 7 and you have something different on your computer,
Navigate to -> Start ->
Control Pannel -> Regional and
Language Option ->Additional settings, (on the upper tab), select time, you'll see the am and pm symbols, change them to anything you like, click on apply and then, click ok.
Did it work out? If yes, you're through and if not, go to step 2 below.

Step2:- Now go to time in taskbar and Double Click it to open "Date and time property" ...Look place where time changes in digital form i.e. 02:47:52 AM , click to arrow to change the AM or PM by selecting and pressing the arrow. It will Show your name or the name you entered in step 1 above. Select it and click on Apply -> then on OK and see what happens.

HOW TO CONVERT PDF DOCUMENTS TO MICROSOFT WORD (.DOC) FILES

3. Choose any format you want to convert your pdf file to. (in this case, you select ".doc" since you're learning to convert to word files.

4. In the space provided, input your email address and click on "convert"


5. After some minutes, check your mail box, there would be a mail from zamzar's website containing the download link to your converted document.

6. Click on the download link to download your new word file.

After the download, you should be able to see a ".doc" file i.e. Word replica of your initial pdf document. Yeah, what are you waiting for? Should I come and edit your new file for you?

HOW TO USE ANY SIM TO BROWSE WITH A MODEM WITHOUT UNLOCKING IT

Can you just imagine how annoying it could be to buy a modem for browsing on your computer and you are restricted to using only one network sim card on it simply because it is locked? I'm assuring you that from now on, if you have been having such annoying experience, you will be able to browse the internet on your PC with that same modem, locked or unlocked, because right away, I will teach you how to browse and access the web with the modem on your pc, but you are required to have two things namely:
1. Nokia pc suite and
2. Your modem
Once those two things are set, then you're good to go.
Ok, let's get started.

Insert your sim card into your modem, even if it is not unlocked.

Plug the modem to your PC.

An invalid SIM warning message will be displayed on your computer, just ignore it by closing the modem software.

Launch NOKIA PC SUITE

Click on FILE > connect to the internet, then click on the spanner like i.e. Settings icon to start your configuration.

Select your modem from the list that will be given, and Enter the Operator APN i.e. Access Point settings just the way you do when you want to use nokia mobile phone connection. For example, For Airtel, input internet.ng.zain.com, for MTN, input web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net, for Globacom, input glowap and for Etisalat, simply input etisalat. If you use a different network sim, simply enter the appropriate access point.

Finish your setup

Connect to the internet through the PC suite.

Yeah, you're connected, if you like, you can unplug your modem and insert another sim card, the same principle still applies.

HOW TO KNOW IF A COMPUTER IS MALE OR FEMALE.

Do you know your computer has a gender? Yes, it can either be a male or a female. I'm sure you are in doubt of this but I'm gonna give a trick that will make you to know your computer's gender status. Ok, lets get straight at it.

Boot your computer.

Now, open the saved file. Your competer will say "I love you" If you hear a male voice, then the gender is male, but if a female voice speaks then, as a boy, you have a female companion. Lol.

HOW TO TEST IF YOUR COMPUTER ANTIVIRUS IS WORKING

There are several occasions on which you buy several antivirus software, install them on your computer and your computer, knowing too well that you have enough space on your hard disk for your computer to run fast and yet, every process still seem to be slow. Well, it may be that your antivirus software is not working. Yes! It's possible. So you may want to check if your antivirus is working or not. In case you don't know how to do this, I will show you how you can get it done within a few minutes. You can test the activeness of your antivirus using a process called EICAR test, this test works on any antivirus and it was developed by the European Institute of Computer Antivirus Research. This process which is used by individuals, companies and antivirus programmers checks if your antivirus is working without having to deal with the real computer virus. Just followw the steps below...

1. Open notepad on your computer (click on start, then select all programs, then select accessories and you'll see notepad, doubleclick on it to open)

STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-

FILE!$H+H* and paste it into the open notepad

3. Save it as myfile.com






4. After saving, scan the new document "myfile.com" with the antivirus

5. If the antivirus is functioning well on your computer, it should generate a warning and immediately it warns you, delete the file upon scanning, otherwise you may need to reinstall the antivirus software
NOTE Most antivirus will give a pop up warning message in the step 1 itself You can also place the
myfile.com file in a ZIP or
RAR file and run a scan on
it
so as to ensure whether
your antivirus can detect
the test string in the
compressed archive. Any
antivirus when scanning
this file will respond
exactly
as it will do for a genuine

HOW TO LOCK/HIDE/PASSWORD A FOLDER ON A COMPUTER

There was a particular time I shared a trick on how to hide folder in a mobile phone and I promised to share the trick on how to hide folder on computer too. I made some research and gathered information and by God's grace, I'll be sharing the trick on how you can hide a folder on your computer with you now. Thereby, fulfilling my promise. But before then, please note that the previous post on hiding folder on mobile phone works only if your phone is Java enabled, if you are a symbian phone user, well, you'll exercise a little bit of patience. One beautiful thing about this trick I'm about sharing with you is that, it doesn't require installation of any software. It's only a compilation of codes which you need to copy from here and paste into your note pad in your computer. Note that, after copying and pasting the code, you can save it with any name of your choice, but you'll need to save it as a batch file. For example, If I intend to save the folder with the name MYhiddenDOCUMENTS then, to save it as a batch file, I'll name my folder as MYhiddenDOCUMENTS.bat that's that on naming our folder. But in case you don't know how to locate the notepad on your computer, just

start up your computer

click on start

click on all programs

select accessories

then click on notepad once you're done with that, copy the code which I posted in red at the bottom of this post: and save it as any name you like .bat
After you've saved your code, you'll see a batch file. Double click on this batch file to create a folder locker, a new folder named Locker would be formed at the same location, now bring all the files or folder you want to hide in the Locker folder. Double click on the batch file to lock the folder namely 'locker' if you want to view or unlock your files, double click on the batch file and you would be prompted for password enter your desired password and enjoy access. Now anyone who can view your locked files need to know the password first.

www.opendns.com on any internet browser on your computer, when the page loads, just choose the "computer" option and follow the instructions displayed on your computer screen. Once your computer is done with the OpenDNS configuration, go to "Dashboard" - > "Settings"
and set the "filtering level" to moderate or high and save the settings.
That's all! It's nothing more than that. Once you are done, when your child clicks a link or deliberately or mistakenly enters an adult content site url into the web browser's address bar, for example, www.whitehouse.com instead of www.whitehouse.gov, OpenDNS filters it and prevents the page from opening
